Holding onto the hands of the generations of lesbians before me and the generations of lesbians to come is where my work and I live. A glazed haze of a memory that sticks to the back of your mind but can’t entirely be recalled is where we thrive—using materials that are as fragile as queer existence—asking to be held delicately and examined deliberately. Using the guidance of the community before me to determine how I create a community today. Placing myself in queer history with my work. My work thrives in intersections. The intersection of the past and presence. The intersection of my personal narrative and the narratives of others is begging to be heard. The interaction between the viewer and my work, both benefiting from one another. Touch being the most important aspect, placing their presence in the cracks of the ceramic or in the paint’s impasto or the stitches in a fibers piece. Having my work touch the viewer. A cycle of love. Fosetery internalized love for the queer self by being seen in our history.
