This is a beginning-level painting class for ages 10-17. The majority of this class will be spent in acrylics, but students will also get a brief intro to watercolor and oil painting. This class is designed to build skills around painting techniques such as color theory, material mastery, and still-life rendering. This class will start with learning foundations for painting and accumulate into a more open project at the end allowing for deeper creativity.

Make beautiful jewelry and metal sculptures with instruction from a working artist. They will guide you to shape, polish, solder, pierce, etch and embellish jewelry in copper and brass. Hollow forms, stones settings, stone inlay, repousse and reticulations will also be introduced.

Jump through the painting and explore a world of artists from the pop art movement, cubism, expressionism, and impressionism. Learn from the artists who created the movements! Each day will be inspired by a modern artist who paved the way for contemporary artists today. Examples include Cy Twombly, Andy Warhol, Piet Mondrian, Keith Haring, and Yayoi Kusama. Students will leave with a portfolio of art inspired by some of these modern artists.

Each week, this class will introduce students to foundational art skills through creative drawing projects. Students will alternately explore topics like color and color schemes, shading objects, and negative space, and use those skills to make their own creative masterpieces. Using a variety of drawing media from marker and colored pencil to pastels and inking with dip pens, and exploring classic drawing genres like still life, portraiture, mapmaking, abstraction, and more, students will get a broad introduction to some of the many possibilities that drawing provides.

In the first half of this teen-level course, students will begin with a series of lessons focused on developing foundational drawing skills like shading, judging proportion, using negative space, developing compelling compositions, and strategies for drawing from both life and from reference. In the second half of the course, students will practice applying those skills to their own compositions through creative and generative projects that prompt students to combine their formal drawing skills with their own personal styles and exuberant creativity. Specific projects will be determined by student interest, but may include: pen-and-ink drawing, portraiture, children’s book or mural design, comics illustration, and character design.

Looking to add some drama to your drawings? In this class, we will explore a variety of shading methods from hatching to blending in search of the perfect balance of light and shadow. Whether you're just starting out or hoping to explore new drawing techniques, this class will encourage you to think creatively about shape and illumination across different mediums. Chiaroscuro doesn't have to be so obscure-o!

Being culturally diverse and distinct, India has many folk art forms from different regions. This class will introduce you to some of these ancient and traditional folk art forms of India. We will introduce the popular Madhubani and Kalamkari Art forms. These folk art forms are known for their striking geometric patterns, floral designs and use of bright vivid colors. You will learn patterns and motifs of each folk art form and create and take home a beautiful painting of Madhubani Art.

In this multimedia class, enjoy spending time with your little one while creating beautiful moments together. Part character design class, part high fantasy adventure, all imagination! Together we will embark on an adventure akin to Dungeons and Dragons: creating characters, rolling dice, and playing the game with an artistic twist! Each class we will not only progress our campaign but we'll also take time to draw our characters, sculpt the arenas we fight in, chart the maps our adventures span, and more to bring the fantasy to life! We will learn not only how to draw and play, but how to work as a team and tell stories together.
