Rania Abdalla Kadafour
Oil on quilted linen
22” H x 29” W
2024

Rania Abdalla Kadafour is a Sudanese fiber artist based in Boston. Through a stuffed quilting technique she developed, Abdalla Kadafour explores themes of migration, erasure & assimilation, war, grief, and language.

This technique creates textual reliefs resembling embossing—camouflaged within the image yet deeply embedded in the fabric. Her practice extends to engaging the public through her sewing circle series, inviting communal quilting and dialogue. Rania’s work examines how political events, memory, and objects accumulate history over time, reflecting on the gradual ways time reshapes the sentiment behind her subject matter.
