Robert Moser-Saito is a clay-oriented sculptor who is searching for lesser-disclosed connections between production and performance. His body of work is a sustained investigation of earthen materials, particularly what happens when their life cycles are impacted by fire, water, and human hands—his own, as well as those who have touched matter before him. He primarily works in coil building, wheel throwing, [video] performance, and classroom instruction.

Moser-Saito is interested in the permanence of the ceramic object, the ephemerality of the built-then-recycled sculpture, and what it means to leave a mark. Somatic expression is the driving force of his work. Moser-Saito holds a BA in Psychology with a minor in Child Studies & Human Development from Tufts University, and is a BFA candidate at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University.
