Lisa Jeanne Graf
Egg Tempera on Claybord
12" H x 24" W
2015

Born in 1966 in Hartford, CT, her first art influences were the suburban wilds of Portland, CT. Fantasy books, Native American crafts, and the European Masters were her first teachers. Next, her art was influenced by artists from India, China, and Japan. From working at the Museum of Fine Art Boston, The MIT List Center and the Gardner Museum she received an excellent art history education.

After receiving a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art in painting over 30 years ago, she has worked as a painter, illustrator, designer, animator, jeweler, potter, and sculptor. She continued her education with classes at the Museum School and The Art Institute of Art as well as a master’s in public administration at Suffolk University.

The influences that now shape her work are being a parent to a 16-year-old daughter, public policy advocacy (with a focus on education) and supporting disability rights (with a focus on autism). She wants her work to offer to the world something useful, positive and ethical.

Recent exhibitions include showing in a new members show at the Copley Society and art commissions for the City of Watertown (Edible Watertown) and the New England Botanical Garden (Horticultural Heroes).
