The Brookline Arts Center (BAC) is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Marketing & Communications Intern with experience or interest in basic web editing and front-end coding to support marketing and digital initiatives during our winter and spring season. This internship is ideal for a student or emerging creative interested in arts marketing, graphic design, and maintaining web-based content for a small arts nonprofit.
This internship offers hands-on experience in arts nonprofit marketing, web content management, and event promotion, with direct involvement across fundraising, residency programming, and educational offerings.
The intern will work closely with BAC staff on digital and print marketing projects supporting Art Off the Wall, BAC’s annual fundraising auction, as well as promotional efforts for BAC’s Summer Residency and ongoing classes and workshops.
Responsibilities
- Manage office email and phone calls (attending to inquiries about programs when possible and forwarding inquires to appropriate staff members)
- Assist in managing daily operations of classes and communications with students and staff.
- Assist in gallery-related programming and marketing
- Work with staff to plan and execute events
- Assist with institutional giving bulk mailings
- Distribute promotional materials to the community
- Make necessary edits to website and social media channels
Qualifications

Experience with or familiarity using Cargo website builder and/or basic HTML/CSS

Interest in marketing, communications, graphic design, or arts administration

Strong visual sensibility and attention to detail

Familiarity with Adobe, Canva, or similar design tools a plus

Clear written communication skills

Ability to manage deadlines and work independently

Interest in contemporary art and community-based arts organizations preferred

Physical Requirements

Students who apply for this internship should be available to be in-office for at least 15 out of the 20 hours per week, with occasional weekend availability.

Prolonged periods of remaining stationary and working on a computer

Possess mobility to work in an office setting and use office equipment

Ability to see, listen, and talk for extended periods in person, over the telephone, and computer and understand printed materials

Ability to lift up to 15 pounds, pushing and pulling, keyboarding and gripping

Must be able to exchange accurate information with students, parents, and staff
